Were you told that you had an MTHFR gene mutation? Or some other genetic mutation?
Whether it was homozygous or heterozygous, these are 5 ways you can improve your genetic expression…
But first…
- A gene is inherited from your parents, grandparents, etc.
The study of epigenetics says that genetic expression is influenced by external factors.
Bruce Lipton, PhD has been instrumental in bringing awareness to this life-changing study of
medicine. And it fits perfectly within the realm of the naturopathic medical model that I practice
from, because these external factors include food, toxins, thoughts, etc, all of which natural
medicine can really help with!
This is directly from Bruce Lipton’s website…
“Medicine does miracles,” he said, “but it’s limited to trauma. The AMA protocol is to regard our physical body
like a machine, in the same way that an auto mechanic regards a car. When the parts break, you replace them –
a transplant, synthetic joints, and so on—and those are medical miracles.
“The problem is that while they have an understanding that the mechanism isn’t working, they’re blaming the
vehicle for what went wrong. They believe that the vehicle, in this case our bodies, is controlled by genes.
“But guess what? They don’t take into consideration that there’s actually a driver in that car. The new science,
epigenetics, reveals that the vehicles—or the genes—aren’t responsible for the breakdown. It’s the driver.”
In essence, if you don’t know how to drive, you’re going to mess up the vehicle. In the simplest translation,
we can agree that lifestyle is the key to taking care of ourselves. Think well, eat well, and exercise, and your
body won’t break down and need new parts.

- MTHFR stands for methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene. Its job is to make MTHFR enzymes.
Problems in this system can lead to lots and lots of health problems including; many types of cancers
and auto-immune disorders, congenital defects, infertility, depression, epilepsy, atherosclerosis, and
on and on and on.

5 ways to help improve your genes:
1. Eat right
Identify foods you may be allergic or sensitive to.
Minimize foods that are inflammatory, primarily gluten/wheat, dairy, sugar, and corn (essentially all processed
foods). Strong followers are soy, potatoes, tomatoes, and poor quality oils (canola, safflower, corn, peanut).
Once you’ve removed the junk, heal your gut! Ask me how.
2. Get rid of toxic crap in your house
Remove all the household cleaners and beauty products in your home that have ingredients you can’t read.
Get rid of the following:
- Plastic food containers – contain phthalates, which act as endocrine disruptors. And especially do not heat
food in plastic! Replace with, and drink from, glass or stainless steel containers. - Non-stick pans – contains cancer causing agents. Replace with cast iron or stainless steel.
- Sunscreen – ditch any with ingredients ending in –zone, which causes cancer. Replace with active ingredients
of titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. - Cleaning products made from chemicals. Replace with natural products using vinegar, essential oils, baking
soda, etc. Or easily make your own! Find out what to avoid, what to use, and how to make your own here…..
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/03/31/spring-cleaning-tips.aspx - Anti-perspirants – avoid those made with aluminum
- Cosmetics – use mineral based products
- Air fresheners and chemically scented candles – get rid of them! It’s not good for your sensitive lung
tissue to breath in chemicals.
3. Get rid of toxic crap in your mind
Our thoughts have very real health consequences. Have you checked out the work of Dr. Masaru Emoto?
He found that thoughts changed the way water molecules were organized (watch a video showing this…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnZm1KvlvgA ). Positive thoughts formed beautiful water molecules,
negative thoughts did not, and were nothing even similar to the beauty of the prior. Over 60% of our bodies
are made up of water….. so think positively!
4. Get rid of toxic crap out of your body
Ridding your body of toxins will help your cells and organs to function the way they were designed to
function. And it is absolutely essential for improving your genetic expression. This is the premise for how
I work with nearly ALL of my patients. Read more at www.biotherapeuticdrainage.com
5. Move your body
Stagnation allows tissues to become unhealthy… ‘Nuff said…
Now start fine-tuning your genes. They will thank you for it!
